Itazura na kiss

Mischievous kiss
Aihara Kotoko attempts to give Irie Naoki a love letter which he immediately and coldly refuses. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Kotoko then is moving into her new house with her father, or so she thought, due to unforeseen circumstances and cutting corners during construction, her house is almost immediately destroyed. With nowhere to go and no savings to depend on, the Aihara’s are given the opportunity to move in with Kotoko’s father’s old friend. This family just happens to turn out to be the Irie’s! Stuck with the boy who rejected her, what will happen with poor Kotoko’s unrequited love and her life now with the Irie’s!?
Immediately starting the live action adaptation of Mischievous Kiss, I knew I had read the manga and/or seen the anime, though I couldn’t tell you which one it was. Immediately recognizable and enjoyable, I couldn’t help but enjoy the adaptation from manga to anime to live action! In all it’s forms, the story stays true to itself and does not alter much. I appreciate when a story stays true to itself as well as when artistic liberties are taken. I was able to choose a favorite form of Good Morning Call because they had taken the liberty of making a few changes. In Itazura na Kiss (Mischievous Kiss) I cannot say I have a favorite adaptation because they are all so similar and true to the original story. <3
I quite enjoy this story and would rate it highly in my list of shoujo manga/anime/etc. Though the story is unoriginal, one person likes the other who is disinterested and yet they end up thrown together and love blooms… and though the characters have typical personalities, the growth they go through and the way Irie Naoki keeps me guessing has my interest throughout the entirety of the series. There are many times I laughed outright and questioned the craziness of okaasan! This is a great series in all it’s forms.
